Donna Shepard Science Department Philosophy

The Donna Shepard Intermediate School Science Department is committed to providing high quality science intruction through inquiry and exploration.  We believe in providing students with opportunities to explore different areas of science through lab activities, high quality demonstrations, and project based learning as well as traditional assignments.  For your convenience, feel free to look at the link for the current six weeks for all of the learning objectives for the six weeks, as well as a calendar of labs, demonstrations, projects, assignments, quizzes, and tests.

Individualized,
Customized â€‹Learning
Plans

Your students will be responsible for maintaining data folders throughout the year. These folders will provide them and you feedback on how they are progressing with the different content areas that will be covered this year.  Tutoring will be available upon request. Email me at jeremybeckwith@misdmail.org. If the times that your student can be available don't work with my availability, we will coordinate with the other science teachers to make sure your student gets the extra help they need.

Different Students
Require Different
Approaches to Learning

Because every person learns in different ways, we strive to provide as many educational experiences as possible.  Outdoor and indoor lab activities, videos, interactive web activities, projects with different product options, and demonstrations, along with more traditional academic activities will provide our students with a wide variety of academic experiences to meet their individual needs.  If you have questions, concerns, or ideas, please feel free to share by sending me a message with the messaging center above or by emailing me directly at jeremybeckwith@misdmail.org
